Este documento resume los puntos clave y conclusiones de un workshop sobre salud digital en México, llevado a cabo con la participación de diversos actores del sector salud en Octubre 2023, incluyendo funcionarios gubernamentales, académicos y representantes del sector privado. Durante el evento se abordaron temas cruciales como la transformación digital del sector salud, los desafíos actuales en la implementación de tecnologías sanitarias, y las perspectivas para el futuro de la salud digital en el país.
Diverse Perspectives and Gratitude The event acknowledged the participation of various entities and hospitals, expressing gratitude towards them. Different perspectives were welcomed, and the diversity of viewpoints was appreciated. The event seemed to foster an environment where various stakeholders, including representatives from different organizations and hospitals, could share their insights and challenges.
Inclusivity and Informal Discussion The event was described as completely informal, participative, and as inclusive as possible. Diverse opinions were always welcomed and appreciated, as the goal was to evaluate all points of view and create consensus since everyone has different expectations. The first two hours of the event involved discussions about Transform Health and a landscape analysis, followed by a team discussion on the analysis.
Emphasis on Privacy and Participation The importance of data privacy was underscored, and the session was recorded to facilitate this. The event encouraged participation and inclusiveness, ensuring that diverse opinions were welcomed and appreciated. Dr. Alejandro Alayola on Data-Driven Decision Making Dr. Alejandro Alayola, Chief of the Department of Biomedical Informatics at the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM, praised the congruence and intelligence in the presentations and discussions on digital health. He emphasized the importance of questioning the "why" behind initiatives and ensuring that efforts in digital health do not merely replicate a broken health model. The reflection on congruence and the purpose behind digital health initiatives were highlighted as crucial.
Challenges in Digital Pharmacy Challenges faced by digital pharmacies were explored, such as the lack of standardization of drug catalogs and the prescription of obsolete or unavailable medications by doctors. The importance of effective communication between doctors and pharmacies was highlighted to ensure patients receive the right medications.
Interaction and Challenges in Pharmacy Discussions revolved around the interaction within a pharmacy and how to communicate with doctors regarding which products can be prescribed and which cannot. The challenges of informing about industry shortages and avoiding prescribing treatments that patients will struggle to find were highlighted. The segment from pharmacies was keen to discuss these aspects with the participants.
Importance of Data in Health Alejandro Arreola, Director of Healthcare Artificial Intelligence, emphasized the importance of data in the health sector. He discussed how decisions have often been based on assumptions or observed patterns instead of solid data and how crucial it is to have access to accurate and relevant information to improve decision-making in healthcare.
Reflections on Digital Health The importance of consistency and intelligence in presentations and discussions on digital health was discussed. The importance of reflecting on the purposes of digital health initiatives was emphasized, and participants were encouraged to consider different perspectives and work towards consensus.
Access to Patient Information The need for quick and reliable access to patient information was discussed, and the importance of having a system that can provide relevant information in a timely manner was mentioned. There was also talk about the need to store information securely and accessibly.
